On April 11th 2016 Naas Community College will launch its first ever healthy living week in an aim to help promote the importance of an overall healthy lifestyle. The week will help both students and staff to step back and examine their lives and place more of an emphasis on the importance of looking after all aspects of their health including mental health, healthy eating and physical health.
Activities organised for the week include: breakfast club, fresh fruit smoothies being available during break, talks on nutrition and on first aid, a cookery demonstration, yoga, pool and table tennis competitions, a board game tournament, beat the teacher spin bikes, badminton, rounders, circuit training, GAA coaching skills and drills, an obstacle course, tug-of-war, egg and spoon race, sack race, three legged race and a relay race.
Healthy Living Week aims to provide students and staff with the skills needed to be resilient to meet the demands of everyday life through talks, fun activities and healthy food promotion.
“Our aim is that this will not just be a one off week but will teach people how to incorporate healthy living as an everyday part of life and overall enhancing our lives for the better.” Ms. Condren (one of the event organisers)
