On Tuesday 15th March Naas Community College joined every school in the country to commemorate 1916 and to celebrate the present. Students played traditional music, read the proclamation, participated in a role-play performance based on key historic figures from 1916, and explained Irish flag raising etiquette. After students had played Amhrán na Bhfiann the flag had been raised by the youngest student in the College and the oldest student in Naas Community National School along with a representative from an Garda Síochána. Mr James Lawless TD planted a Rowan tree at the front of the school to mark the occasion. Invited guests included parents and friends from Craddockstown Nursing Home who afterwards were invited to a display of hand made and digital art work.
