This month we are using Jig-saw groups as our learning strategy in class. We discussed this in our T+L breakfast morning last week.
Jig-saw groups is a co-operative learning strategy.
•It encourages students to take responsibility for a chunk of knowledge and teach it back to their peers
•It promotes confidence and prevents one person dominating in each group. Safety is also promoted through “Expert groups”.
•It can be used as a revision aid in class or as a way to introduce topics to a class.
Here is a video demonstrating how it can be used in the classroom.

I have not used this strategy in my class before but after seeing how it can be used I look forward to applying this to my lessons.
By introducing jig-saw groups in the classroom it facilitates lessons to become more inclusive and accessible. I will be using this as part of revision and also when introducing topics. It is a strategy that can be used in all subject.
