We held our last breakfast morning of 2019 with the theme of using the “snowball” in class. This strategy was used to describe the different methods of feedback that can be given in class in the forms of teacher, student and peer feedback. Teacher’s immersed themselves in the activity and imagined themselves in the mind-set of the student. we find this helps whenever we want to replicate these activities in our own classes to really understand the rationale one why they are used. Great festive activity for the Christmas period. Look forward to the next breakfast morning where we will be approaching the approach of placemats in the classroom.
Here in NCC we are running a Teaching and Learning week in an effort to raise awareness of the range of teaching methodologies that we are using in our classrooms. The initiative is an effort to encourage all of our teachers to visit each other’s classrooms in an effort to collaborate and learn some best practices off each other. We Had our first Breakfast morning of the year to mark our Teaching and Learning week where Laura Crawford demonstrated the use of Teams Games Tournaments in a variety of ways. We run 5 of these morning workshops during the year and teachers are invited down to have breakfast to learn from other teachers about certain things they may do in the classroom. The rationale and how to put a Teams Games together was covered by Laura as well as the many different models that can be approached. All the teachers in attendance then demonstrated and played the Teams Games and immersed themselves into the life of a student in the classroom.
